What are the responsibilities and job description for the Logistics Technician - Evidence (part-time) position at Chesterfield County, VA?
High school diploma or GED and two years of experience in an office environment or in logistics support; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel. Must possess analytical and objective problem-solving skills, be detail-oriented, resourceful and self-motivated. Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, interpersonal and public relations skills necessary. Preferred typing speed of 45 words per minute. Must possess or be eligible to obtain a Virginia driver's license. Good driving record required. Must not reflect a total accumulation of more than six demerit points in the past twelve months or a DUI conviction in the past four years. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required. This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check. Must be a US citizen or have been a lawful resident of the US for the past ten consecutive years.
This is a uniformed position. Functions include active participation in evidentiary operations. Performs processes to manage the flow of evidentiary items to and from the police department to include pick up of evidence, transport, barcode and store. Process lab forms, compile evidence, pick-up and deliver to state lab. Performs quality assurance inspections of documents, items and processes to ensure there are no inconsistencies or discrepancies that may invalidate the usefulness of the item(s) in court proceedings, ensuring accuracy and integrity of all items. Provides customer service to internal and external customers at service window. Performs clerical duties; answers and directs telephone calls, types, performs data entry and reporting, files, runs errands. Assists with logistical matters such as uniforms, supplies, equipment and vehicle fleet needs of the department. Assists with daily lockers as needed; shifts, lifts and sorts evidence. Testifies in court. Perform other work as required. This position is part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) and offers career progression opportunities and salary incentives, as funding permits, based on performance, qualifications, and experience.
