Associate’s degree in accounting, business or related field; two years of accounting/payroll processing experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Working knowledge of the principles and practices of payroll accounting; of pertinent federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations; of generally accepted accounting principles as they apply to payroll processing is preferred.
Candidate must possess a strong work ethic with a customer service orientation; must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to apply established policies and procedures; and must have effective organizational skills. Candidate must be able to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment; ability to process detailed work with emphasis on timeliness, efficiency and accuracy and is flexible/open to change. Must be team oriented and possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Candidate must have proficiency with Microsoft PC applications, including Excel and Word. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required. Under general supervision, performs work of routine difficulty in accounting work related to the preparation, processing, and maintenance of payroll; performs related work as required. Position provided general guidance to department timekeepers. Duties include processing a variety of personnel transaction forms to include new hires, internal transfers, leave events, terminations, and changes to benefits, withholdings or deductions; maintenance of deductions and contributions; input and reconciliation of hours and dollars processed; Processes and monitors payment requests for child support and bankruptcy deductions in accordance with court orders and related laws and regulations.
