The Electrical Engineer plays a key role in supporting the Refinery's mission to operate safely, reliably, predictably, and without incident at the lowest sustainable cost. This involves taking a lead role in understanding and evaluating plant performance, working closely with Operations and Maintenance to establish priorities for the work, and following thru with proactive design and execution of work packages and projects. Electrical Engineers oversee the entire electrical infrastructure within the Refinery to provide support on a daily basis.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
- Prepare Electrical work scopes, cost estimates, schedules, material specs, sketches, construction work packages, and other required documentation.
- Troubleshoot I&E problems & issues, develop alternatives, and propose & implement solutions for long-term reliability.
- Answer technical inquiries, make technical recommendations, improve design tools, & develop design procedures and provide training.
- Manage, design & execute Electrical related capital projects.
- Document & manage information related to Electrical systems & equipment.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with applicable Environmental, Health, Safety, & Building codes as required by Federal, State, Local, & Refinery regulations.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science; however, 15 years of industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 3 years of industry experience in electrical engineering.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office and engineering software to perform design calculations.
- Knowledge of power generation, MV/LV distribution systems (switchgear/MCCs), and UPS/DC power systems.
- Knowledge of induction/synchronous motor fundamentals and associated protection/control schemes.
- Knowledge of protection relays/coordination, their application, and the use of ETAP software for performing electrical studies for new design projects as well as troubleshooting.
- Understanding of electrical protection for feeders, motors, transformers, and other equipment.
- Knowledge or experience with ASDs/VFDs.
- Electrical area classification assessment, generation, and application at industrial facilities.
- Specify, purchase, support install & commission, and troubleshoot electrical equipment.
- Read, understand & develop drawings including One-Lines, P&IDs, schematics and connection diagrams. Evaluate & select suppliers for specific instrumentation applications.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Capable of keeping customers updated and writing detailed engineering reports. Communicate technical ideas to a wide range of groups.
- Strong team player (i.e. capable of building strong and productive working relationships with all stakeholders).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical engineering is preferred.
- Complex Process Facility experience preferred.

- The anticipated salary range for this position is $ 112,200 - $221,900. The selected candidate's compensation will be determined based on their skills, experience, and qualifications.
