The Top Shelf:
This role focuses on the support of player evaluation, player development, roster construction, in-game strategy, and more, through a data-driven lens. Candidates should be passionate about both hockey and data. Successful candidates will also bring strong communication skills, project management skills, and work ethic.
How You'll Contribute:
- Support departments within Hockey Operations by providing timely analysis or project work on request using a variety of data sets including scouting, performance, and on-ice metrics.
- Develop new project ideas and assess their potential impacts, feasibility, and importance.
- Participate in data quality processes by validating data against external or internal data sets.
Player Stats and Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Python or R
- Proficiency in Excel
- Proficiency in SQL
- Thorough understanding of hockey statistics, rules, and gameplay
- Ability to leverage a technical mindset with a creative and analytical approach to problem-solving.
Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Business Analytics, or related field.
- Experience analyzing datasets using Python, R, Excel, or equivalent software.
- Demonstrable data-driven project work on sports topics, preferably HockeyAbility to address, adapt to, and overcome challenges in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Demonstrated aptitude for driving results
- High attention to detail
- Demonstrates Chicago Blackhawks core values of integrity, curiosity, empathy, collaboration, and originality
