What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mascot Assistant position at Chicago White Sox?
OVERVIEW:
The Chicago White Sox are seeking a part-time Mascot Assistant to support the Southpaw program at Guaranteed Rate Field and various outside appearances. This assistant will work directly with the Southpaw team on gamedays to support all mascot endeavors and assist in the execution of skits, fan engagement, and any other activations. This position will gain valuable insight into the world of professional sports, and the ideal candidate is one that is passionate about the world of live entertainment.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

- Assist Southpaw during home games during the 2024 season (which will include some holidays, nights, and weekends)
- Assist Southpaw at select outside appearances based on need and availability.
- Help direct interactions between Southpaw and fans.
- Assist in capturing social media for Southpaw’s social media accounts.
- Aid in execution of skits, fan engagement, and all activations
- Carry mascot supplies and props.
- Assist Southpaw with time management in-game and at appearances.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Previous mascot or handling experience preferred.
- Live performance or public speaking experience preferred.
- Must have strong attention to detail.
- Must have excellent oral and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to take creative direction.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have good decision-making skills in high pressure situations.
- Must be able to engage with fans of all ages.
- Physical requirements include running for periods of time, navigating up and down stairs and the ability to move, set-up and teardown props and equipment, some weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
