TITLE: STOREKEEPER HELPER
TYPE: Non-Union, Cycle I
SALARY: Per Terms of Employment for Non-Union Personnel, Cycle I
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, six (6) hours per day
REPORTS TO: Director of Food Service
OBJECTIVE: The Storekeeper Helper assists the Storekeeper maintain inventory, move
inventory, make deliveries, and drive the delivery truck, and performs
duties as directed by the Director of Food Service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs manual and clerical duties involving the receipt, storage, maintenance and distribution of commodities, food supplies, and equipment.
- Loads and unloads vehicle(s) by hand or, on occasion, by hand truck or dolly. Stacks and secures items in position on truck to prevent damage during shipment.
- Maintains inventory control systems.
- Performs minor repairs in kitchens.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Food Service.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Ability to perform minimal clerical duties.
- Ability to use hand and power tools to repair pieces of equipment in the kitchens.
- Storekeeper must be punctual.
- Must be able to work with a minimum of direct supervision. Must be able to assume responsibility as needed.
- Must be able to work effectively with members of the Administration and other personnel. Must be efficient and personable in dealing with the public.
- Must have skills for maintaining and projecting a positive attitude when working with others, and must maintain and demonstrate professional integrity through ethical behavior. Must present and project a professional image in all situations in the workplace.
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must possess a valid Massachusetts motor vehicle license
- Must be insurable by the City auto insurance policy.
- Massachusetts Civil Service (if available)
- High School Diploma
ADA & MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle and a hand truck and/or dolly. Must be able to exert up to 25 pounds of force, and enough force to constantly lift up to 50 pounds, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move small and large objects. Work requires walking, standing, kneeling, squatting to a significant degree.
Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information. Includes giving instructions, assignments or directions to staff, students, parents, and visitors.
Language Ability: Requires the ability to read a variety of correspondence, reports, forms, newsletters, schedules, manuals, invoices, requisitions, menus, recipes, journals, etc.
Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently.

Motor Coordination: Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using equipment.
Manual Dexterity: Requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as office equipment and hand tools. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
