TITLE:
Studio Artist / Craftsman
DIVISION: Adult Division
TITLE OF IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Adult Program Coordinator / Day Service Manager
POSITION SUPERVISES: None
POSITION COORDINATES WITH: Day Service Management Team
Center DSP (Direct Support Professional)
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Related to assigned project(s)
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience in teaching with an emphasis on individualized instruction or a background in Social Services. Experience with MR/DD is helpful
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be free of communicable disease.
- Must not have any evidence of abuse or fraud in any setting
- Must not have been convicted of a violent crime or crime related to a dependent population
- Must not have repeated or substantial violations of applicable laws and rules in operation of any type of residential, health or developmental program in the care of dependent persons.
- Must be able to input and retrieve data electronically utilizing an electronic data collection system.
- Must be familiar with Microsoft Office programs
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate ideas, instructions, and coordination of services with others.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Studio Artist / Craftsman is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation and monitoring of special programming for individuals. Special Programming may include but is not limited to…Beyond ICAN, My Fabulous Self and other community connections.
DUTIES
- Assist in maintaining all equipment in proper condition and report maintenance needs to the Director of Operations.
- Assist in making connections within the community – connections that would allow individuals to work on special projects outside of C.A.R.S. facilities
- Assist with community events – events that would promote Beyond ICAN, My Fabulous Self and/or C.A.R.S. in general.
- Assist in organizing and coordinating C.A.R.S. events – events that would promote Beyond ICAN, My Fabulous Self and/or C.A.R.S. in general.
- Assist in promoting and providing individuals with opportunities for community integration, independence, normalization and least restrictive placement, through individualized art activities.
- Assist in providing instruction to individuals and develop activities which reinforce their wants and needs.
- Assist in creating and developing art projects for individuals.
- Assist direct care staff to insure projects are being presented correctly.
- Assist in providing quality programs and services, ethical treatment of individuals, and protection of their rights and dignity as persons.
- Assist in advocating for individuals and their family / caregivers.
- Assist in communicating to the IST team progress and/or concerns of the individuals
- Adhere to the policies and procedures of Child Adult Resource Services, Inc.
- Attend all in-house or outsourced trainings as assigned by CEO, Leadership Team and/or Immediate Supervisor.
- Maintain confidentiality of information according to agency policy and procedure
- Exhibit cooperation, courtesy and a professional attitude in interaction with all staff, clients and the general public
- Observe safe work practices. Report safety concerns to C.A.R.S. Safety Committee
- Perform any other necessary and/or related duties as assigned by the CEO, Leadership Team and/or Immediate Supervisor.
