Deputy Director
Summary
The Deputy Director will have both internal and external facing responsibilities with a focus on oversight of services to the Council’s various constituencies including parents, early care and educator programs, employers and the general public. Working closely with the Executive Director and as a key member of the Management Team, the Deputy Director will ensure that the Council’s services are culturally-sensitive, high-quality, responsive to customer needs and accessible. The Deputy Director will also contribute to the Council’s future growth and strategic response to emerging needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute actively to the Council’s Management Team
- Help develop the overall strategic goals of the Council in collaboration with the Board of Directors with a goal of universal access to high quality early care and education for Westchester families
- Assist in the development of short and long range planning for services to parents, programs, employers and the general public
- Support the directors’ continuous professional growth and effective performance through regular feedback, guidance, training, resources and evaluation
- Oversee the directors in creating and implementing results-oriented annual work plans with on-going guidance and adjustments
- Provide thought leadership around relevant topics, emerging trends and best practices so that the Council is relevant and responsive rather than reactive on issues concerning young children and families
- Help lead the agency’s work in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion as expressed in but not limited to the Council’s Equity Statement
- Recommend new areas of exploration and activity for the Council
- Expand the Council’s inter-departmental sharing of knowledge, resources and use of collaborative practices to improve the efficiency and impact of our services
- Contribute to the advancement of the field of early care and education by participating in local, state and national professional organizations
- Represent the Council effectively with the Westchester early care and education community and other relevant area and state partners
- Contribute to the Council’s Marketing and Communications Plan, Fund Development Plan and Public Policy Plan and provide active support of each
Job Requirements
- 15 plus years in a senior management capacity in a nonprofit, foundation or government agency
- Advanced degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Business, Early Childhood Administration
- Significant experience in a child-serving organization, preferably at the senior level
- Excellent management, planning, financial, evaluation, and both oral and written communications skills
- Skills representative of the linguistic, racial and ethnic populations in the service delivery area
- Proven success in delivering intended results in challenging environment
- Demonstrated ability to build and sustain respectful and productive relationships with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds
- Must have a car, a valid driver’s license and a minimum of $100,000/$300,000 car insurance
- Bilingual/Spanish speaker desirable

Director of Family and Employer Services, Director of Health Care Consultant Services
Classification: Exempt, Full-time
Salary Grade: 6
