What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parent Educator position at Child Crisis Arizona?
Child Crisis Arizona has been helping our community’s most vulnerable children, youth, and families for nearly five decades, offering help in times of crisis but also in non-crisis times to strengthen families and build resiliency. Our mission is to provide children and youth in Arizona a safe environment, free from abuse and neglect by creating strong and successful families.
Our Family Education Department is looking to hire a Bilingual Child & Family Education Specialist to join the team.
We are looking for compassionate, energetic, and dependable individuals that are committed to increasing the use of positive parenting techniques and building Safe Kids. Strong Families.
In this role you will spend most of your time providing classroom instruction on a variety of topics including Child Development, Injury Prevention, Co-parenting, and many more. You will facilitate these evidence based curriculums and Child Crisis Arizona’s strengths based material to parents/guardians, children, and other professionals at partner locations throughout the valley, onsite at Child Crisis Arizona meeting spaces, and virtually via Zoom. Relationship building and collaborative work with community providers will be essential to linking families with necessary supports and services. You will also be responsible for ensuring that community members are aware of the Parenting Education opportunities that Child Crisis Arizona provides; these efforts could include attending community resource events, recruiting participants at partner agencies, and attending informational sessions with various schools.
To be considered you must have:
- Experience facilitating small or large group learning sessions
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Child Development or related field and 2 years experience working with children or families.
- Knowledge of basic child development
- Ability to teach at times that are most convenient for families which includes day and evening times
- A clean five-year motor vehicle history and a valid Arizona Driver’s license.
- A level one fingerprint clearance card or the ability to obtain one prior to starting
You are a star candidate if you have the above, and:
- Bilingual Spanish/English capabilities
- Certification in evidence based parenting curriculums including Active Parenting, Parents as Teachers, Conscious Discipline ect.
- Current or previous experience as a National Child Passenger Safety Technician
- CPR & First Aid, Mental Health First Aid
- Curriculum Design experience
