PLYMOUTH COUNTY, MA— Child & Family Services has a successful Police Co-Response program with the New Bedford, MA and Dartmouth, MA police departments and we are now teaming up with the towns of Carver, Plympton, Hanson and Halifax Police Departments! CFS is looking for one Clinician who is passionate about community crisis intervention and teaming up with the police to provide appropriate mental health crisis response! This clinician will work with all 4 police departments to provide co-response.
The Mobile Crisis Clinician, Police Co-Responder will utilize their knowledge of behavioral health and experience with utilizing de-escalation and problem solving to intervene with police for individuals/families experiencing a behavioral health crisis. This individual will also utilize their knowledge of systems (i.e. DMH/ DDS/DYS/ DCF) and CBHI services as well as the Wraparound process to provide clinical care and support to prevent hospitalization and stabilize individuals in the community. This is a full-time, hourly (40 hours/week) position
Available Schedules:
- 1st shift schedule of Monday – Friday 8AM – 4PM
- 2nd shift schedule of 3PM – 11PM!

Qualifications:
- Masters level degree in mental health counseling, clinical psychology, social work or other related clinical program from an accredited educational institution
- License Eligible or Licensed (LCSW, LICSW, LMHC, LMFT, etc.)
- At least one year experience working with youth and their families in a clinical role
- Ability to intervene, problem solve, de-escalate, and stabilize situations quickly
- Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Responsibilities:
The following responsibilities are not meant to be all inclusive and may be adjusted to meet the agency’s needs.
- Quickly assess and provide brief solution focused interventions utilizing de-escalation techniques and supportive counseling to intervene with individuals/families in a behavioral health crisis.
- Work in conjunction with police and first responders to assist with advocacy and addressing safety concerns quickly and with flexibility to respond to multiple crises
- Work collaboratively with partners, (i.e. LEAD program, CCIT, HUB) to provide assessment, stabilization, and community based supports referrals and linkages to all appropriate services
- Complete collateral contacts with an individual’s providers to ensure continuity of care
- Assist with safety planning over the course of the six day intervention period and outside the evaluation/intervention period
As Needed Responsibilities
- Complete intake data form by telephone or in person either on site or at outreach locations
- Confirm health care coverage
- Conduct comprehensive mental health status exam for youth and adults utilizing an admissions/screening instrument which includes providing a diagnosis in accordance with the DSM-IV and DSM-V
- Telephone screening and consultations
- Understanding of different treatment modalities that can be applied to stabilize clients in their home and prevent hospitalization
- Consult with clinic director/administrator on call and or consulting psychiatrist prior to disposition plan to include outpatient services, hospitalization or hospital diversion
- Participate in regularly scheduled clinical supervision, staff meetings, staff development, and training curriculum
