Our Crisis team is looking for a Certified Family Peer Supporter (CFPS). This is someone who self-identifies as the caregiver of an individual with behavioral health challenges (mental health/substance use disorder); and who has navigated service systems for at least one year on behalf of the individual.
A caregiver may include a birth parent, adoptive parent, foster parent, legal guardian/custodian, or a person chosen by the family or youth to have the role of primary caregiver. A CFPS supports an individual’s or family’s ability to address needs, navigate systems and promote recovery, resiliency, and wellness. They promote services that are family driven, youth guided, trauma-informed, and culturally competent. The CFPS will provide both basic and intensive family support services and participate as an active member of the Mobile Response and Stabilization Team for Clermont and Brown Counties.
In order to be eligible, the applicant must complete the required training and be in the process of approval as a Certified Family Peer Supporter through the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. Essential Responsibilities:
- Providing empathetic listening and emotional support
- Assisting families in navigating systems
- Supplying information about child-serving systems, children’s behavioral health and development, and community resources
- Rendering advocacy support
- Facilitating familial engagement with service providers
- Engaging in safety and care planning; exploring and eliminating barriers to care plan follow-through
- Offering skill-building for parents that enhances resiliency, communication, advocacy and other areas affecting the ability to maintain a child with complex needs
