Primary Functions
The Center Director works under the direct supervision of the Executive Director. The Center Director has the responsibility to successfully operate a childcare center that meets the needs of the children and parents, is fiscally responsible, and has well maintained records and where staff are well supervised and trained.
Candidates for this position MUST have a Center Director's Credential and a minimum of an Associate's Degree.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides children and families with a high-quality program.
- Knows individual children and interacts with them positively.
- Ensures that appropriate, meaningful programs are planned, organized, and implemented.
- Ensures schedules and activity plans are appropriate for the children.
- Makes successful class placements as needed.
- Models positive and effective guidance procedures.
- Ensures the program complies with DCF Licensing Standards, The Early Learning Coalition Agreement, and Accreditation Standards.
- Responsible for the enrichment of the program and access to resources for the program, such as special visitors, field trips, and community services.
Develops a team that cooperates to reach center goals.
- Develops and communicates the goals of the program with the staff.
- Observes and evaluates the staff on a regular basis.
- Develops schedules and duty assignments for staff that meets the needs of children and is fiscally responsible.
- Arranges and assists with staff training and professional development.
- Conducts and documents monthly staff meetings.
- Hires and fires when necessary using appropriate policies and procedures in cooperation with the Director of Education.
Is responsible for the overall administration of the center.
- Maintains open communication with the Director of Education and shares all pertinent information.
- Ensures the confidentiality of files.
- Is responsible for accuracy and timeliness of records for:
- Center reimbursement
- All records for children
- All records for staff
- All records for food service o Financial records
- Parent fees
- Time sheets
- Orders and maintains appropriate supplies and equipment.
Provides for the health, safety, and welfare of the children.
- Ensures that the center is in compliance with DCF, Health Department, and Fire Safety regulations and inspections.
- Ensures center is in compliance with food program guidelines.
- Ensures building/designated program area reflects regular cleaning inside/outside.
- Maintains center inside and outside with repairs being scheduled and completed on a timely basis.
- Ensures preschool classes are serving “family style lunches”.
Is responsible for an active family involvement program.
- Knows and works towards implementing the seven agency goals for family involvement.
- Organizes and coordinates quarterly family advisory committee meetings.
- Attends, participates, and documents family functions.
- Serves as resource and offers assistance to parents.
- Is readily available to families for consultation and orientation to the program.
Makes a conscientious effort to help maintain the financial wellbeing of the center.
- Uses purchasing card in a responsible manner.
- Deposits fees in a responsible, accurate, and timely manner.
- Follows agency policy in fee collection and handling of money.
- Participates in the budgetary process.
- Uses the bidding process when necessary.
Contributes to the overall success of the Agency.
- Promotes professional image of the center.
- Participates in community organizations.
- Promotes a sense of community between the center and the central office.
- Develops a successful and professional relationship with other Agencies working with our families.
Skills/Knowledge Required
- Must have Florida Director’s credential
- 45-hour Child Care Worker Certificate (or will begin within 90 days of employment and complete within one (1) year)
- Associate’s degree with Early Childhood training preferred (or in process of obtaining Bachelor’s Degree)
- One (1) year of experience in a related field
- Must maintain the required 24 hours of continuous training per year
- Must be proficient in the English language and have excellent written and oral communication skills
- Must be able to supervise staff
- Administration of the business aspects of the program
- Work with parents and be part of a team to provide children with a high quality, developmentally appropriate childcare program
- Must meet all required pre-employment screenings
Physical Requirements Mobility to move within the center and interact with the staff and children Travel to meetings and trainings, some of which may be in Fort Myers
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and tend to children 0-5 years of age

Pay: $48,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
