Job Summary
The Victim/Family Advocate (VA) is responsible for development and service delivery of program services for victims of child sexual abuse and severe physical abuse and their non-offending family members. The Victim Advocate is responsible for coordinating client services, support groups, system advocacy, tracking client cases, supervision of volunteers, community education and light clerical work. The Victim Advocate works as a team with Department of Children’s Services, law enforcement, District Attorney’s office, and medical and mental health providers to assist child sexual abuse and severe physical abuse victims and their non-offending family members.

The Mission of the Robertson Child Advocacy Center is to ensure that a cooperative, multi-disciplinary team delivers comprehensive services to child physical and sexual abuse victims and their families in a child-focused, neutral-base facility. By providing coordinated services through cooperation among the various disciplines, the center will ensure that each child will be protected from further victimization. The Child Advocacy Center will ensure the development and implementation of child physical and sexual abuse prevention and will provide community education strategies.

The Robertson County Child Advocacy Center is a small, close-knit office, with people passionate about helping children and their families who have experienced abuse. With such a small office, employees tend to wear different hats and help each other out when necessary. To thrive at this office, a person needs to be able to work independently in addition to being a team player. Because of the unique nature of the work and makeup of the county, one must be comfortable with slow days as well as being extremely busy.
Due to the seriousness of the work done here at the child advocacy center, self-care and growth are extremely important. The office often participates in team building activities like visiting farm stores and watching the newest true crime documentary. Additionally, the center is committed to growing the capabilities of all employees through various means.
