Job Posting for EEO Officer and Employee Relations Manager at Children's Aid

Children’s Aid is seeking an experienced EEO Officer and Employee Relations Manager (EEO/ERM) to join the Talent Management and Human Resources Team. Reporting to the Head of Talent Management and Human Resources, the EEO/ERM will conduct confidential investigations and provide guidance and support to managers and employees on workplace matters while ensuring fair and consistent practices throughout the organization.

Responsibilities:

The essential functions and responsibilities of the position include:

  • Investigate internal complaints
  • Advise management on matters related to employee issues
  • Respond to employee relations issues and make recommendations that promote a fair and equitable workplace that is free from discrimination
  • Manage day to day employee support matters
  • Lead ongoing review and updates of EEO policies, procedures, templates, and trainings
  • Coach and counsel managers on performance improvement matters and disciplinary actions
  • Interpret policy and provide employment guidance, advice and support
  • Educate and train managers on topics related to employment matters
  • Conduct exit interviews
  • Implement and ensure organizational compliance with federal, state and local laws, including mandated anti-sexual harassment training provisions, and other mandated training programs and other programs as required
  • Interface with internal and external legal counsel, and Compliance Officer, as required
  • Build collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders
  • Support and reinforce agency Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts and programs
  • Analyze relevant EEO data to determine ways to further improve agency compliance and culture, and ensure compliance with all EEO reporting requirements
  • Complete other projects related to the EEO/ERM function for the Talent Management and Human Resources team, as required

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 7 years of HR experience with 3 years in employee relations, EEO certification a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in related field preferred or JD preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of Federal, State and City employment laws, regulations, guidelines, administrative rules and procedures governing application of Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity laws
  • Subject matter expertise in EEO complaint handling processes and case management, including investigative techniques and written communications
  • Proven ability to build trust and relationships at all levels throughout the organization and maintain successful partnerships with all levels of management and staff
  • Effective problem solving, diplomacy and excellent judgment
  • Proven ability to handle highly confidential information with discretion
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Solid knowledge of MS Office
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Ability to work autonomously and also in a team environment
  • Detail oriented with solid organizational skills
