Job Summary
The Vaccine Education Center at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (VEC at CHOP) is hiring! Hybrid or on-site position based in Philadelphia (8-20 hours/week in-person).
We are seeking an individual to work part-time (20 hours/week) on our Vaccine Makers Project team. The Vaccine Makers Project is the classroom program of the VEC’s efforts. The successful candidate will assist with programs, such as the annual essay contest, social media, newsletters, classroom lessons, and other outreach efforts. BA/BS in liberal arts, communications, marketing, or public relations required. Background in science a plus, but not required. Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal communication skills a must. Attention to detail and ability to complete tasks as requested as well as ability to work independently and as part of a team are also important for success in this position.
Job Responsibilities
1. Facilitate social media outreach efforts.
2. Aid in planning and conduct of annual Hilleman Film essay contest.
3. Assist with preparation and dissemination of newsletters and other communications related to the project, including with collaborators, team members, and external sources.
4. Represent the Vaccine Makers Project and Vaccine Education Center at exhibits and tabling events, as needed.

Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations
Required Education and Experience
- BA/BS in liberal arts, communications, marketing, or public relations.
Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic
Experience in public relations, communications and/or non-profit, public or consumer health, cause-related marketing a plus, but not required.
Additional Technical Requirements
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking and time management skills a must
- Strong interpersonal communications skills, including interaction with a variety of stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Some travel required
- Facility with Microsoft Office software
- Experience with news writing, copy-editing, fact-checking will be valued
