The Director of Rooms is responsible for for the management and coordination of all departments in the rooms division, providing direction and leadership to Front Office, Guest Services, Housekeeping, Valet and Bell functions. As the Rooms Division Manager you will focus on planning, developing, implementing and evaluating the quality of products and services given to internal and external guests.
Essential job functions include but are not limited to:
- Assist in establishing and creating goals and strategies for both the operational and financial success of the hotel, ensuring alignment with hotel strategic goals and objectives.
- Ensure positive employee experience by facilitating excellent leadership in the following areas (but not limited to), hiring, mentoring, coaching, recognition, communication, training and accountability, when required and as aligned with hotel people philosophy
- Establish annual objectives for Departments reporting to Resort Manager.
- Support and provide a culture of mentorship, training and development and foster a cooperative work climate
- Ensure compliance with Hotel policy, procedure and standards as well as local, state and federal regulations in the rooms operations, including safety and security
- Ensure appropriate and responsible financial performance and optimization: assist in developing annual rooms budget, labor staffing and budget compliance, monthly and quarterly financial forecasting, P&L responsibility and cost controls
- Comply with all Standards of Service, and ensures Forbes service standards are implemented, team members are trained in 5-star service standards and all team members under supervision are in compliance in meeting expectations, with consistent delivery to ensure optimal guest experience reflective of luxury service
- Perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.\
- Perform all other duties as required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct responsibility for supervising Rooms Division leaders. The position reports to the Hotel General Manager.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of three (3) years experience as a Front Office Manager or Director of Front Office of a four or five star luxury property of 100* rooms
- Independent hotel background in a resort destination is also strongly preferred. Resort hotels experience helpful.
- College / University degree preferred.
- Excellent knowledge and experience with hotel operating systems such as Opera, Resort Suites, Knowcross or similar.
- Previous Housekeeping and/or guest relations experience is helpful
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays
- Proven background of guest service excellence and effective financials.
- Must be able to read, write, and type in English.
