Job Summary:
Our four (4) Registered Nurses (RN) will serve a medical hospital by participating in a COVID program in Gallup, NM. The ideal RNs will find solace in caring for a community in need of compassionate and culturally aware care.
The facility is a 99-bed hospital in Gallup, New Mexico, on the border of the Navajo Reservation. Clinical specialties include Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Anesthesia, OB/GYN, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Radiology, Pathology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Emergency Medicine, and Urology. The workload at Gallup is one of the largest with 250,000 outpatient encounters and 5,800 inpatient admissions annually.
The Plateaus and mountains close to Gallup offer opportunities for hiking, backpacking, and camping. There are several national mountains and parks within easy driving distance. Albuquerque, with all the services and cultural events offered in a city its size, is just two hours East of Gallup. There are many choices for cross-country and downhill skiing within 1 to 3 hours of Gallup. The city of Gallup has a population of approximately 23,000.
Shift: 40 hours per week, 8 hour flex days with occasional evening shifts, weekends and holidays Day shift hours- 0730-1600; Evening hours- 1030-1900.
Tour of Duty: Offers short (16 weeks) and long term (1 to 3 years) options.
Job Classification: Full Time Contract
Supervisory Responsibilities: None but may serve as a mentor.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide compassionate care to patients in various settings to enhance their qualify of life.
- Activities include car-based testing, vaccine clinics and events, and infusion clinics.
- Administration of oxygen and other respiratory treatment; parental fluids, N antibiotics, various emergency and routine medicines, topical and systemic medications, including immunizations and conscious sedations prior to special procedures. Performs treatment as indicated.
- Evaluates status of patients on an ongoing basis and reports significant findings and/or changes, plan of care/nursing interventions as appropriate. Observes patients closely, records observations, and documents nursing interventions, therapeutics measures administered, patient's reactions status of coordinated activities between nursing and other professional disciplines.
- Performs patient assessment and evaluation consistent with emergency care: determine nursing procedures and practices to use, and periodically evaluates plan of care to obtain optimal results. Initiates emergency interventions as indicated by patient condition, age and medical history. In emergency situations, when a physician is not present or immediately available, initiates resuscitative measures, i.e. acute airway and cardiovascular emergencies based on appropriate utilization of Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) protocol as primary nurse when a cardiac or respiratory arrest occurs.
- Performs other as needed intervention as indicated.
- Provides patient care in a team model. Does patient charting using the nursing process. Prepares written assignments for and provides guidance and leadership to other nursing personnel.
- Assists providers with exams and procedures as needed. Responsible to ensure that all appropriate consents and paperwork are completed by the physician and nursing staff prior to starting the procedure.
- Sets up, monitors and operates specialized equipment in all areas of assigned competencies.
- Works in a courteous and responsive manner with patients, families and other employees, which enhances the image of the medical center.

Education and Experience:
- Required: Possess at least three years of nursing experience.
- Required: Background/experience in adult and pediatric populations.
- Required: Possess an associate’s or a higher level of education in nursing through an accredited nursing program in the U.S.A.
- Required: Possess a current, valid, unrestricted nursing license in any state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States, throughout the term of this contract. License verification must be provided at the time of application.
- Required: Maintain valid and current certification and provide proof at the time of application in the following:
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) and
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Required: Possess and maintain a current driver's license in any state.
- Required: Provide three (3) professional references at the time of application.
- Preferred: COVID testing, therapeutics, and vaccination experience.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to withstand physical and emotional stress.
- Must be able to stand and move for long periods of time.
- Able to frequently lift at least 50 lbs., reach, pull, push, bend, stoop, and kneel.
- At the time of hire, must provide a fitness for duty certificate issued by a licensed physician to perform the proposed job without significant risk to personal health or the health and safety of others.
- At the time of hire, must provide documentation of evidence of immunizations as required by the facility's immunization policy.

Pre-employment Requirements:
This position may be contingent upon passing a security clearance, criminal background check (state and federal), drug screen, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review, education verification, employment verification, and/or credit check after acceptance of an offer and prior to beginning work, due to the nature of the services Chloeta provides and the responsibilities of this position.
Drug and Alcohol Testing:
To enforce Chloeta’s Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, an employee or candidate could be subject to undergoing a drug screen and/or alcohol testing at the beginning of employment, as well as after commencement of employment where there is reasonable suspicion of intoxication, or following an automobile or other accident, or as part of a company or facility-wide random drug screen process.
Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA):
Under the FCRA, Chloeta may request a credit check during the onboarding process. A written authorization form will be required before obtaining credit records.
Emergency Response:
Every Chloeta employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official Duty Station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official Position Description (PD). Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
