What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outside Plant (OSP) Technician position at CHR Solutions?
Overview
The OSP Technician is responsible for field staking of aerial, underground and buried for Fiber to the Home (FTTH) design. The OSP Field Technician will use an iPad and other technology to gather detailed information on utility poles and facilities to determine underground placement of fiber path to support OSP Fiber Engineering. This position requires 100% travel.
Essential Functions
- Work with an iPad, IKE or other equipment to collect field data from utility poles and aerial facilities.
- Field stake and inspect underground and aerial fiber facilities in urban and rural areas with various terrains.
- Work independently of supervision and complete work based on daily targets.
- Communicate daily with direct supervisors and peers in person and via phone and email.
- Communicate with manager and permitting/project management teams via phone or email as required.
- Attend in-person or virtual meetings and trainings as needed.
- Maintain accurate records and input daily production metrics.
- Professionally represent CHR Solutions and client.
- Carry out all work in a safe manner and in alignment with safety practices.
- Adhere to internal and external field design practices, standards, policies and procedures.
- Raise project concerns or risks to management as necessary.
Education and Experience Requirements
Required:
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Ability to travel 100% with reliable personal vehicle.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and walk several miles per day.
- Ability to follow company procedures and guidelines.
- Proficiency working with a tablet and computer.
- Ability to work 40 to 60 hours per week.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
