COMMUNITY The makeup of our community determines a large part of what it is like to live and work here. We have about 120 people who live on-site year-round consisting of full-time staff, staff families, and seasonal staff. Glorieta is a beautiful place with many natural resources but calls for a somewhat remote living.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Title: Projects Technician
- Department: Maintenance - Projects
- Reports To: Projects Manager
Job Purpose: To fulfill our mission by helping accomplish the dreams of growth and improvement at Glorieta Adventure Camps with a view toward the future in terms of stewardship and sustainability of the facilities and to facilitate a positive experience for our guests while they are here.
Overall Responsibility
- Assist in the planning and completion of building projects of various types - general carpentry, framing, finish carpentry, cabinetry installation, light electrical, plumbing, tile, concrete, stone, drywall, welding, and a variety of other camp projects.
- Aid in electrical and plumbing repair/installation under supervision of licensed journeymen.
- Help residents with improvements to staff housing.
- Exhibit excellent customer service skills and solve facility problems to the best of your ability.
- Perform preventative maintenance.
- Stay on a maintenance schedule, perform regular inspections on facilities and equipment.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed.
- Maintain clean and organized workshop and storage areas.
Other Duties of ALL Glorieta Staff: Serving guests are our number one priority, and therefore ALL staff must participate in guest service in some capacity. Tasks may include cooking, cleaning, facilitating group activities, running retail locations, general maintenance of camp property, and work projects as needed. There are often groups here on weekends, and all staff members will be required to work certain weekends as needed.
Character, Education, Abilities, Skills, Experience:
The “ideal” candidate will have:
- Educational equivalent of High School diploma or GED
- Ability to communicate well with team members, staff, and guests
- A strong desire to learn new things quickly
- A personal relationship with Christ that permeates all aspects of his/her life
- Previous experience in any of the duties listed is preferred
- Willingness to perform routine tasks regularly and on time, with deadlines weekly and monthly for most tasks
- Willingness to perform tasks alone and to be a problem solver
- Understanding of PPE (personal protective equipment)
- Experience with power tools
Work Context: This job will be performed primarily on location at the Glorieta, New Mexico location.
Travel: Possible infrequent travel to workshop training.
Physical Demands: The job may require the ability to lift heavy loads, walk all over the property and facilities, stand for a lengthy period of time, and bend and squat to install or service equipment. Be willing to get your hands dirty.
Work Environment: Most work will be done throughout campus, including indoors and outdoors. This may include working in inclement weather conditions throughout the year.
Training: Projects employees will be given opportunities for improvement through appropriate training.
