School Counselor
Position Title: School Counselor
Reports to: Head of School
Full-time 12-month employee
Qualifications
● Profess a saving faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and accepts the authority of scriptures as a guide for faith and living
● Model Christian character in speech and actions
● Masters degree in School Counseling or Child Psychology
● Licensed or Certified in school counseling or related field
● Experience in a school setting or working with children in therapy related fields, preferably with a wide scope of age-ranges
● Well-versed in the ethical and legal considerations related to counseling practices
● Work cooperatively and collaboratively with all colleagues and families
● Display flexibility and adaptability in responding to new situations and expectations, and presents a positive attitude and helpful demeanor
● Demonstrate self-motivation and initiative
● Possess a high energy level, physically, mentally and emotionally
● Evidence of attention to detail in organization and planning
Job Responsibilities
Develop School Counseling program in collaboration with school administration
● Assist students with emotional, social, and spiritual needs individually or as a small group
● Implement social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum through regularly scheduled class lessons
● Provide staff development in areas of need and in orientation to the school-counseling program
● Plan and facilitate parent information sessions with school administration
● Assist parents and families in communicating with them the needs of the student and providing outside resources as needed
● Implement a referral and follow-up process
● Assist in identifying and referring at-risk students for additional supports as needed
● Stay abreast of current research by exploring professional development opportunities related to mental health topics to increase knowledge and skills
● Attend and assist in school events
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $30,000.00 per year
