Summary: The Pulmonary Function Technician (PFT) performs all Pulmonary Function and Cardio-Pulmonary Stress testing in accordance with established criteria. Completes all relevant clinical documentation for accuracy and completeness to meet JCAHO and Medicare standards.
Education: In addition to the skills normally obtained through completion of a High School education must also be a graduate of an American Medical Association (AMA) accredited Associates Degree Program in Respiratory Care or the equivalent.
Licensure: Current Respiratory Therapist license in the State of Rhode Island and must be nationally certified or certification eligible.
Experience: One year of Pulmonary Function testing experience is required.
Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or Safety Requirements: Clean well-lighted and well-ventilated environment. Exposed daily to disagreeable odors, sights of bodily wastes and contaminated equipment. May be exposed to infectious diseases and/or bodily harm from combative patients. Required to carry, push, and pull equipment and gas cylinders weighing between 50-150 pounds to and from patient care areas. Must follow all safety regulations, Infection Control Policies and Universal Precautions. Meets all safety requirements associated with the Medical Center.
