Christopher's Reason is an OASAS 822 Outpatient clinic that specializes in treating those who struggle with addiction. We are seeking an experienced Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team to work at both our Brooklyn and Queens offices. The ideal candidate who is professional and passionate about helping those we serve. We are looking to hire a counselor who is independent and self-motivated with familiarity and experience in the field of addiction who will provide counseling and support to individuals struggling with substance abuse disorders, helping them on their path to recovery.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine the needs of clients seeking addiction counseling
- Manage a caseload of individuals and complete required documentation
- Provide counseling and therapy sessions to individuals and groups using evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
- Weekly groups planned, delivered, and documented in a timely and effective manner meeting the client's person-centered goals for treatment
- Assist clients in developing coping skills and strategies to manage cravings, triggers, and relapse prevention.
- Attend weekly case conferences and supervision
- Maintains timely, accurate, and appropriate documentation
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current/Valid CASAC, Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor
- Current/Valid CASAC-T, Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor Trainee
- Holds and maintains required certification(s) and completes required continuing education
- Strong understanding of behavioral health interventions and counseling techniques
- Proven experience in providing addiction counseling services
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Well-versed in substance use disorder
- Maintain excellent punctuality and dependability skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills verbal and written
