Job Summary:
The role of Roads Rover Supervisor is meant to provide support for both the Supervisor team and the Operations Team. The Roads Rover Supervisor will provide supervisor coverage, in which they will be expected to direct, work hands-on with, and supervise maintenance work crews across Chrysalis Enterprises’ (CE) Roads contracts. The work crews will be assigned to California State Highways/Right of Ways and work in partnership and at the direction of local Caltrans maintenance personnel. When not providing supervisor coverage, the Roads Rover Supervisor will provide operational support for the Roads program under the direction of the Operations Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities to include but not limited to:
Team Leadership:
- Train and coach transitional employees on job duties, proper uniform, equipment, and other pertinent areas
- Act as a mentor to Roads crewmembers by coaching and recognizing them on their performance with consistent documentation and evaluations
- Support the Roads crewmembers through the implementation of the Roads program, which includes providing trauma-informed feedback and encouragement to attain permanent employment by working with the Employment Specialist
- Supervise Roads crewmembers to ensure that the scope of work is being executed in a safe, professional and timely manner
- Communicate with customers, employees, stakeholders, business owners, property owners, residents, pedestrians with tact and diplomacy
- Relay all client and work-related issues to Roads Management when applicable
- Consult with Roads Management to ensure that all labor laws, regulations and company policies are properly followed and enforced
- Validate and approve Roads crewmembers’ timesheets and timecards for payroll purposes on an as needed basis
- Partner with other Roads Supervisors in identifying and coaching to opportunities of development for transitional employees
Customer Relationship & Operations:
- Ensure customer’s needs are met according to the contractual obligations with the highest level of customer service
- Handle all requests and complaints in an immediate and professional manner
- Report all requests, complaints, and outcomes to appropriate senior manager
- Seek help from Roads Management where necessary to correct situations as they arise
- Submit maintenance tracking reports and vehicle inspection reports at specified intervals to appropriate Chrysalis and Caltrans personnel
- Maintain a clean, safe, and functioning vehicle, trailer, equipment, uniforms and portable restroom
- Check contract supply inventory regularly and make supply requests in a timely manner
- Fulfill supply requests in a timely manner and communicate inventory needs to Roads Management as needed
- Execute various operational tasks as directed by Roads Management
- Practice adaptability/flexibility in managing customer relationship, understanding that different customers have different operational preferences and work styles
- Attend and participate in monthly meetings, one-on-ones, and other training as assigned
- Adhere to and promote adherence to all Chrysalis Enterprises policies and procedures
Safety and Health:
- Ensure that all safety procedures in the field and in the operation of vehicles, equipment, and tools are being met by all crew members daily
- Ensure that CE workers are provided appropriate PPEs for each shift and maintain PPE inventory
- Conduct briefings and training on job duties, proper equipment use, safety, and other pertinent areas
- Perform daily quality inspections on vehicles and machines as assigned and report any hazards or deficiencies immediately
- Perform tailgate safety meetings daily
- Report vehicle accidents immediately to CE Management and provide written documentation for each accident
- Report CE worker incidents and injuries immediately to CE Management and provide written documentation for each incident
Qualifications
Skills and Qualifications:
- Have a valid Class C driver’s license and the ability to qualify for Chrysalis Enterprises insurance coverage
- Ability to pass written and field driver screening and follow detailed instructions, including navigating to specific geographic locations
- Strong leadership and communication skills and evidence of a strong work history
- A willingness and desire to mentor the CE client population and support the CE transitional jobs program
- Ability to pick up, push, throw or pull up to 50 lbs. and work on their feet throughout shift
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated adaptability to changing tasks with varying levels of priority
- Demonstrated ability to adjust to working with different customers and crewmembers
- Demonstrated high levels of quality assurance and professionalism
- Excellent organization, time management, and interpersonal communication skills
- Have experience as a transitional employee with Chrysalis Enterprises
