POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Facilities will be responsible for oversight of the agency’s statewide owned and leased facilities, including building projects, landscaping designs and activities, repairs and maintenance of building structures and electrical, plumbing, and other systems, budget management, management of the corporate office, and tenant relationships.  The Director will work closely with the leadership team, Real Estate Committee (Board of Trustees), and external partners in decisions affecting the building and grounds of the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develops, implements, maintains the agency’s multi-year deferred maintenance schedule
  • Works with regional directors in annual facility review process, providing recommendations to the leadership team
  • In collaboration with the Director of Finance and Administration, prepares and monitors budgets for facilities and rental properties
  • Negotiates and manages bids and contracts
  • Ensures the efficiency of all building systems
  • In collaboration with the Director of Compliance and regional directors, coordinating site safety programs
  • Maintains a safe working environment for all on-site employees
  • Assists Chief Operating Officer in managing facilities planning and space allocation
  • Manages maintenance of grounds
  • Ensures all utility systems are inspected and in accordance with regulations
  • Coordinates building security and maintenance services
  • Maintains a multi-year deferred maintenance schedule that includes a timeframe for estimated replacement of major building components
  • Coordinates all maintenance issues and schedules, including tenant maintenance
  • Coordinates office moves within and between facilities
  • Monitors compliance by all vendors in the service areas of janitorial, HVAC, refuse and recycling, pest control, fire safety, appliance repair, tree service, plumbing and electrical
  • Responsible for safety of multiple agency vehicles, overseeing/maintaining scheduled vehicle inspections and minor repairs, tune-ups, and oil changes
  • Prepares and files reports with government and regulatory authorities including environmental permitting
  • Management of the corporate office, including the reception function, mail distribution, conference room scheduling, and ordering office supplies.
  • Available for emergencies, prepared to respond or delegate 24/7
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Computer skills; may include scheduling with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
  • Capable of working with little or no supervision
  • Eye for detail
  • Ability to supervise employees
  • Ability to set schedules, maintain budgets, and exercise time management skills
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues and internal and external stakeholders to further the organization’s strategic objectives
  • Ability to lift and handle 40 pounds

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

This job is performed both inside and outside. The following list is representative of the work environment employees encounter while performing the essential functions of this job:

WORKING REMOTELY:

Working remotely is a benefit of Children’s Home Society of Washington’s flexible workplace, but remote work cannot be offered for all positions. Some positions require daily presence in the office. Remote work arrangements may be adjusted or rescinded based upon business needs.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard; occasionally to reach, stoop and kneel
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work
  • Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift to 40 pounds
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum five years’ experience in maintenance supervision or related field 
  • Ability to lift and handle 40 pounds
  • Two years demonstrated supervisory experience, which reflects progressive responsibilities in hiring, firing, training, performance evaluations, conflict resolution and disciplinary counseling
  • Commitment to excellence and to the mission of CHSW
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check
  • Successful completion of a drivers check if position requires driving on a regular basis (at least three times per week) or drives consumers. Must not have more than two driving incidents within the last three years

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, facilities management, business management or related field.
  • Fluency in a second language

SALARY RANGE AND BENEFITS:

The full salary range for this position is $112,063-$170,300 The starting salary range for this position is $112,063-$126,651 DOE.

Employees (and their families) are covered by medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Employees will also receive 10 days of vacation leave each year, one personal day each year, and will accrue one sick day per month (pro-rated for part-time employees). Employees will also enjoy 13 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.  We also offer EAP and mental health benefits.
