Good Samaritan University Hospital Medical Center is a 537- bed (including 100 nursing home beds) teaching hospital and a member of Catholic Health. Responsibilities:
- Responsible for providing prenatal/preconception, pediatric and cancer genetic counseling including collecting and interpreting family and medical histories and assessing the chance of disease occurrence or recurrence.
- Also responsible for providing education to patients about genetics, inheritance patterns, natural history of condition(s) in question, genetic testing, and options for management and prevention.
- Candidate will need to perform patient follow-up including written and oral correspondence with referring physicians.
- There is opportunity for student supervision/training as well as education of genetic counseling students, residents, nurses, physicians, other healthcare providers and the general public.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from an American Board of Genetic Counseling accredited program is required.
- Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Genetic Counseling or the American College of Medical Genetics.
- Minimum of 1 year clinical experience preferred.
- Experience in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Progeny and Computer Based Risk Assessment Models required.
- Spanish speaking preferred, not required
The pay for this position ranges from $38.00 – $43.00 per hour.
