Executive Underwriter, Healthcare
The ideal Underwriter will have experience handling:
- Medical Liability for Hospitals and Physicians.
- Utilizes appropriate tools to underwrite new and renewal business within area of product, customer and/or industry expertise.
- Ability to conduct in-depth risk analysis and develop optimal program structure as well as transact flow business.
Major Job Functions:
Responsible for underwriting within the Midwest Region.
- Drive financial performance of a Healthcare book of business comprised of medical professional, general liability, primary and excess coverages.
- Influence and drive the business plans for assigned territory on both new and renewal accounts
- Meet or exceed financial goals including growth, profit, retention, and new business.
- Predominately responsible for account solicitation, risk selection and analysis (including documentation), pricing and sales.
- Meet with new and renewal customers and wholesale brokers to negotiate coverage, price, financial terms and service delivery.
- Work collaboratively and effectively with a team of underwriters, underwriting associates, customer service representatives, claim examiners, and loss control representatives.
Chubb will consider relocation support for qualifying candidates.
The pay range for the role is $92,500 to $158,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant's skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. The disclosed pay range estimate may be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.
Qualifications
Critical Competencies:
- Deal-Making and Negotiation: Proven ability to find creative solutions that strike appropriate balance between insured and producer needs while adhering to company underwriting standards. Identifying when to use additional resources to close those opportunities.
- Sales and Marketing: Knowledge of Chubb products, competitors, customers, and marketplace within dedicated area of expertise. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective growth and retention strategies.
- Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with multiple Business Units, Branch and Home Office stakeholders. Demonstrates effective consultation and partnering skills.
- Communication: Demonstrated ability to differentiate the Chubb proposal by effectively articulating (verbally and in writing) Healthcare strategy, appetite, and capabilities. Ability to question and listen to wants/needs of customers.
- Underwriting experience with Lines Medical Professional (Claims-made), General Liability and Excess Liability
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required
- Minimum five years of experience in Medical Malpractice underwriting
- Demonstrated record of teamwork, communication management and integrity
