Job Overview
The Locksmith installs, repairs, modifies, and opens a variety of locking mechanisms found on doors, desks, compartments, mobile equipment, safes, and vaults.
This position is contingent is upon contract award.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- Examines locking mechanism and installs new unit.
- Disassembles unit and replaces worn tumblers, springs, and other parts or repairs them by filing, drilling, chiseling and grinding, opens door locks by moving lock pick in cylinder or opens safe locks by listening to lock sounds or drilling.
- Makes new or duplicate keys, using key cutting machine, changes combinations by inserting new or repaired tumblers into locks.
- Opens door locks by moving lock pick in cylinder or opens safe locks by listening to lock sounds or drilling.
- Establishes key systems for buildings.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Mandatory:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED).
- Four (4) years’ verifiable experience as a locksmith.
- Communicate, both orally and in writing, in the English language.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid State driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
