Title: Communications Director
Job Description
Reporting to the Sr. Pastor, the Communications Director is responsible for developing and executing on a creative direction for the church that includes worship experience, outreach, and communications. The director must be able to navigate multiple and competing priorities in a dynamic environment. This individual is a member of the church’s ministry and leadership teams and will partner with church volunteer to execute on the church’s mission.
To create an exceptional worship experience, the coordinator will work closely with the Music Minister to plan and execute weekly church services. This position is responsible for all non-musical aspects of worship, including messaging, printed materials, multimedia production, projection, A/V, and broadcast ministry to complement the sermon and music.
To support outreach and communications activities, the coordinator must have a strong background in writing and editing, as well as demonstrated experience in a variety of communications skillsets. These skillsets include communications with church members and outreach to the public, writing for a variety of occasions, social media management, paid advertising, website development and maintenance, videography and photography, media relations, and/or graphic design. The coordination will explore existing and new communications channels to improve the quality and accessibility of church communications.
Specific work responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, working with church staff and volunteers in coordinating and producing a variety of church services; email/text/app-based communications, writing stories that highlight church activities; supporting membership recruitment activities; managing social media accounts, websites, and other digital and print forms of communication; and coordinating visual assets through photography and videography; developing and distributing printed material (i.e., bulletins and newsletters) for various events; maintaining an inventory of church-branded items for internal and external use; providing basic IT assistance to other church staff; and supporting church events.
Other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
Required Qualifications
· Committed faith in Jesus Christ as practiced by historical and traditional Christian churches and willingness to be active in church life.
· Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, graphic design, or related field with appropriate experience.
· Excellence in written communication skills, including editing and copywriting.
· Experience with developing promotional materials.
· Experience with online platforms for web and social media; basic understanding of HTML and CSS for maintaining website content.
· Experience working with communication platforms in a professional setting.
· Experience with graphics design tools, such as the Adobe creative suite of products
· Experience meeting deadlines and navigating multiple projects simultaneously.
· Strong organizational/interpersonal skills, creativity, flexibility, self-motivation, and the ability to thrive in a team setting.
· Ability to pick up new skills and technologies quickly.
· Ability to work on Sunday morning and occasional evenings, and travel periodically as needed (weekly work-schedule to be coordinated with the successful candidate).
· Ability to work effectively with church members.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with digital content strategy and management, including content management systems and other web platforms, as well as professional/organizational social media management.
· Experience with visual communication mediums, such as photography, videography, and streaming services.
· Experience installing software and troubleshooting issues with laptops and tablets to support church staff and kiosks.
· Experience in working in a church environment.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
