Cigna Investment Management – Operations Investment Custody & Banking Services Role Summary: Cigna Investment Management (CIM) has responsibility for the over $35 billion investment portfolio of Cigna, a leading global health, life, and accident, and group insurance provider and Fortune 100 company. CIM is also responsible for the management of over $4 billion in assets on behalf of the Cigna Pension Plans. Cigna and Cigna's Pension Plans are invested in public and private bonds, commercial mortgage loans, private corporate mezzanine debt and equity, real estate equity, global equities, and hedge funds. The Investment Operations Manager within CIM Operations is responsible for a full range of bank-based security services for Cigna's U.S. businesses, non-U.S. businesses, and Corporate Owned Life Insurance business (COLI). This position liaises with internal and external business partners both in U.S. and non-U.S. markets including banks’ Investor Services, investment managers, COLI, legal, securities operations, investment accounting, treasury, and country-level finance teams to assist with the development and implementation of investment operations infrastructure, lead and/or participate in assigned business projects, establish bank accounts and process flows, recommend and lead process improvements, monitor service levels and coordinate issue resolutions. Major Duties: Manage team and provide subject matter expertise in support of a world-wide custody infrastructure with portfolios employing diverse asset classes. Lead the development and implementation of investment operations infrastructure in support of business requirements. Support/lead projects including M&A integrations, outsourcing and process re-engineering for investment operations streams. Creatively analyze, develop and implement integrated solutions that comply with local and global requirements leveraging both bank and Cigna capabilities. Actively liaise with CIM Operations, COLI, and front office/asset partners. Offer in-depth knowledge of business structures, key financial processes, banking products and related interfaces. Anticipate and respond to investment needs and support new business strategies to improve investment results. Coordinate banking requirements, workflows and related implementations. Design and support development of metrics that define business problems and measure the success of solutions in terms of enhanced investment income, reduced costs, and improved quality. Analyze business processes, workflows and system design. Educate business personnel in the use of bank systems and process flows and assist in assuring understanding and compliance with management standards and internal controls. Work closely with custody service providers and Cigna business partners to maintain high-quality, straight-through processing and provide comprehensive financial solutions. Lead resolution of bank service issues. Represent Cigna at various professional meetings and seminars. Maintain an active dialog and contact with banking experts, investment and treasury professionals to stay current with the latest trends in investment industry, products and technology solutions. Cigna is a global business with multiple operating sites in the US and abroad. Conduct/participate in meetings outside U.S. business hours with Cigna's non-U.S. businesses and 3rd party providers. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a financial discipline. MBA, CTP, or CFA a plus. 7 years of financial experience within investment discipline, 3 of which in Investment Banking Services. Knowledge of investment services, custody banking, compliance and regulations, and securities operations. Working knowledge of investment management and portfolio structures, insurance investment regulations, accounting principles, foreign exchange, and ancillary custody services, e.g. compliance monitoring, performance measurement, transition services, etc. is desirable. Strong record of team management with ability to evaluate team roles, performance, create and maintain policies and procedures, and assist with new employee onboarding and training. Proven customer-focused, consulting, relationship, and project management skills. Strong problem solving, decision-making, organizational agility with interpersonal skills Strong communication skills and ability to influence others Strong technical skills and analytic orientation. Experienced with or able to learn investment systems and general business systems High energy level, intellectual curiosity, proactive approach and sense of urgency. Flexible with ability to manage time and juggle multiple priorities. Desire to learn and support other roles within CIM Operations. Strong competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Strong preference for this position to be located at our corporate headquarters in Bloomfield, CT with a flexible work from home arrangement. However, we are open to those outside of the immediate area with the understanding that the position will require travel into the Bloomfield, CT office, on your own accord, roughly once or twice on a bi-weekly basis This position supports Cigna Investments, Inc., an investment adviser registered with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”).
