The Data Architecture Function is responsible for developing data architecture solutions that apply best in class data design principles in support of business capabilities for the Evernorth Accountable Care Organization. The data architect has a deep understanding of data architecture patterns, infrastructure, design, integration solutions and best practices to support business processes, systems, and services. Data Architects provide architecture direction & guidance for the implementation of data storage and data movement solutions to ensure we are successful in delivering proven solutions to meet business needs. Data Architects work closely with cross-functional business teams in a consultative manner to drive new business and/or meet compliance requirements and work in close collaboration with multiple IT delivery team teams in a matrix environment to influence enhancements, design, and mutual understanding of business needs.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead data architecture design sessions to develop new solutions to meet business needs
- Lead data model reviews to ensure delivery teams are aligned to the data architecture, technology solution and integration points
- Provider leadership and guidance on best practices for data storage and integration technology solutions (Postgres, Open Search, DataBricks, etc)
- Work closely with key stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate them into technical requirements
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure the timely and effective delivery of data solutions
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including ERDs, data dictionaries, and data flow diagrams
- Develop and/or support data governance policies and standards for consistent practices across data life cycle
- Conduct performance analysis, troubleshoot issues, and resolve problems in a timely manner
- Stay current with new technology developments and provide recommendations for improvements
- Participate on creation of end-to-end solutions that maximize alignment with target states and reuse of IT assets
- Mitigate or resolve architecture risks and issues related to projects
- Work with delivery teams as necessary to ensure that solution design and deployment stay consistent with architecture direction
- Drive data architecture direction by defining solutions that are in alignment with standards, principles, and strategic technical business direction
- Apply the right design frameworks for the problem (transactional vs analytical, relational vs object, MDM vs operational)
- Ensure data design follows the prescribed reference architecture and framework and reflects appropriate business rules and facilitates data integration, data conformity and data integrity
- Participate in technical research and analysis and make recommendations on potential solutions to meet business need while working within the constraints and budgets
- Improve data integration, data quality and data delivery in support of business initiatives and roadmaps to achieve results
- Work with Enterprise partners to understand and align to new strategies
- Participate in vendor and tool selection in alignment with solution architecture
- Adhere to architecture and design standards, guidelines, and processes. Provide input to refine processes as needed.
- Create solutions that are appropriately sized to fit project time, budget, resource constraints
- Communicate the “big picture” to delivery teams
Qualifications
- Strong Technical background with core competency in data or software development and/or architecture
- BA/BS degree in MIS/Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 5 years' experience in a Technology delivery or data development
- 3 years’ experience in Technology architecture
- Experience in AWS data store resources (PostGres Aurora, RDS, Redshift, etc), data pipelines (SNS, SQS, Streams, APIs), services
- Strong experience in SQL, ETL, procedures
- Very strong analytical skills, highly focused, team player, resourceful, flexible
- Background and experience in Healthcare Technology
- Agile development and architecture/delivery experience
- Knowledge of modeling and diagramming
