What are the responsibilities and job description for the Employee Relations Advisor position at Cigna?
Provides counsel and advice to management, Human Resources, and other functional areas on Employee Relations matters. Provides day-to-day support for employees and managers around employee relations and workplace issues and concerns as well as policy interpretation and application. Responsible for all aspects of the job elimination process including plan writing, tracking, and ensuring compliance with applicable policy and law. Partners with managers to complete the business case and other relevant documentation for job elimination plans. Areas of responsibility may include assisting on project teams for key business initiatives, assisting Sr. Advisors with the development and implementation of approved organization-wide employee relations policies and practices and providing support on climate assessments.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field; advanced degree preferred.
Requires 3 years of broad HR generalist or related experience.
Strong knowledge of employment laws.
Prior experience in conducting employee or similar investigations required.
Major Duties
Under the direction of management, this position provides ER consulting and guidance on employment policies, programs and initiatives in support of business objectives to foster an environment of positive employee relations, including providing guidance that manages and/or mitigates company risk.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Providing sound, constructive and timely consultation and coaching to managers, HR, the business and/or other areas on ER areas of responsibility including Job Eliminations, Employee Discipline, Terminations, ADA, Attendance, and Leaves including but not limited to Short Term Disability, Family Medical Leave, Long Term Disability, Personal Leave, etc. This consultation may pertain to corporate policy and/or relevant state and federal laws and regulations.
Assisting management with all aspects of the job elimination process including plan writing, tracking, and ensuring compliance with applicable policy and law.
Assisting Sr. Advisor and/or ER Director in identifying employment law and workplace trends (internally and externally) and providing guidance on proactive steps to address these trends.
Assisting Sr. Advisor and/or ER Director in delivering training programs on relevant topics, as needed.
Assisting Sr. Advisor and/or ER Director in conducting Climate Assessments.
Supporting the Sr. Advisor in collaborating with business partners across functional areas in support of interdepartmental initiatives and issues of company concern.
Participating in legal proceedings, as appropriate.
For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of $79,200 - $132,000, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.
This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
