POSITION SUMMARY
This role’s primary responsibility is to maintain adequate inventory levels needed to meet service level needs and contractual requirements across multiple pharmacies. This position develops competence by performing structured work assignments; interprets existing procedures to solve standard and complex problems with limited instruction, guidance and/or direction from others. Proficiency in this role requires exercising independent judgment and critical thinking within the company guidelines while maintaining a professional presents to both internal and external customer base.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Manage day-to-day purchasing activities by reviewing historical demand and analyzing inventory levels across multiple pharmacies.
Possess a proactive and strategic mindset in working with suppliers to order pharmaceuticals for a given pharmacy based on medication inventory requirements to meet customer demands.
Effectively build internal and external relationships to establish and meet product/service requirements to minimize ‘low inventory’ situations.
Engage with internal partners and represent purchasing for a specific site, as needed, to support and solve for customer issues and communications when medication is out of stock.
Productively collaborate with internal and external customers to understand trends; identify opportunities to optimize inventory & service levels; ensure medication out of stocks are minimized; engage in root cause analysis and corrective action.
Act as a primary contact for an assigned supplier portfolio and communicate effectively with internal and external partners on cross functional meetings and initiatives, as needed.
Communicate clearly with all levels of management including but not limited to internal and external customer base.
Possess solid follow through skills, attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks and meet daily deadlines.
Ability to effectively train, provide guidance to team members, when needed, and act as a mentor to Sr. Analysts (Buyers) on team.
Special projects as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in related field OR 8 to 11 years of experience.
2-5 years relevant experience with Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree and 0-3 years of relevant experience.
Intermediate - Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Outlook.
Demonstrated ability to evaluate and manage supplier relations and overall understanding of contracts and the contracting process.
Ability to interface with internal and external customers and suppliers in a professional and ethical manner.
This role is Flex/WFH which allows most work to be performed at home or on occasion at a Cigna office location. Employees must be fully vaccinated if they choose to come onsite
