What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern, Ukraine and Moldova position at CIPE?

Description: The Europe and Eurasia team is currently expanding its portfolio of projects in the region. The Intern will assist the team with research and analysis of country conditions, business sector preparedness, and government actions in terms of EU integration for Ukraine and Moldova. The Intern will also identify and research key stakeholders in each country working on these issues, as well as compile an inventory of similar project in the US/EU.

Reports To: Program Officer, Eastern Europe

Learning Objectives:

  • Acquire working knowledge and skills in analysis and research on EU integration
  • Demonstrate in-depth research analysis skills.
  • Enhance ability to produce written materials for various platforms including databases, social media, and briefings.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Research and analyze country conditions, business sector preparedness, and government actions in terms of EU integration for Ukraine and Moldova
  • Update and maintain a databased of key stakeholders working on EU integration

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Strong research, analytical and writing skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in international issues related to democratic transitions and the role of market-oriented reform in promoting democratic development.
  • Ability to consolidate and synthesize large amounts of information and present in an organized and concise way.
  • Familiarity with the Europe and Eurasia region’s economic and political environment.
  • Basic understanding of EU integration processes
  • Basic understanding of the business operating environment in the countries in the portfolio.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English required; proficiency in Russian a plus.
  • Undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate, or law students are encouraged to apply

All CIPE Spring 2023 internships will be remote, though interns may come into the CIPE office if they choose. Interns who plan to visit the office will be asked to submit a vaccination card or a request for reasonable accommodation. This is a paid internship.
