POSITION REPORTS TO: RESTAURANT MANAGER
SALARY RANGE: $18.00 PER HOUR
POSITION PURPOSE:
Responsible for supervising and coordinating guests in a friendly and timely manner providing fast and courteous service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
- Ability to give guests a good impression of the restaurant by greeting them in a warm, friendly manner.
- Responsible for printing the menus.
- Ability to take and check guests’ coats/jackets and retrieve them upon guests’ departure.
- Able to courteously assign guests to tables suitable for the size of the group, and escort patrons to their seats.
- Able to adjust patron seating flow in such manner as to balance customers among the various service stations.
- Responsible for monitoring the open dining sections of the restaurant for empty and cleaned tables, estimating wait time for guests, monitoring the guest waiting list, and ensuring that the needs of the guests are met while they are waiting.
- Responsible for answering the telephone in a prompt and courteous manner and making reservations.
- Responsible for making necessary changes to the dining room occupancy chart.
- Able to monitor the table rotation and make sure that each member of the wait staff gets a fair amount of tables without giving them too many all at once.
- Able to communicate with guest and clients to ensure reservations are properly recorded and all needs met.
- Able to present menus and wine lists and explanations for all special items listed.
- Provide friendly, courteous and efficient service to all guests by making eye contact, smiling and maintaining proper posture.
- Able to assist in taking orders and serve food and beverage items to customers in a timely, enthusiastic and professional manner.
- Able to coordinate with kitchen and other supportive departments in order to ensure that food and beverages are prepared and served promptly.
- Responsible for creating and maintaining a database with guest information.
- Responsible for training other hosts.
- Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the dining room.
- The ability to perform other tasks or project as assigned by Cipriani Management.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he/she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
- Able to learn and perform all essential job functions accurately and safely.
- Knowledge of the menu and beverage list and the ability to communicate clear suggestions to the guests.
- Knowledge of the city, particularly tourist attractions and the ability to communicate clear directions to these attractions and facilities.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced working environment.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:
- Able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for an extended period of time.
- Able to lift and move up to 25 lbs. on an intermittent basis.
- Manual dexterity required to use and operate all necessary equipment.
- Talking, hearing and seeing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
Education: High school graduate or equivalent education required.
Experience Required: At least 2 years of Serving/Hosting experience preferred.
Licenses or Certificates: Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates or permits.
Grooming: All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per company standards.
Electronic Devices: Personal cellular phones, pagers, I-pods, radio/cd players, headsets and/or other electronic devices are not permitted to be worn, carried or used while on duty.
