Security Engineer
The successful applicant will be performing work in US government and defense department, and therefore, must be a U.S. Person (i.e. U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, asylees, or refugee). This position may also perform work that the U.S. government has specified can only be performed by a U.S. citizen on U.S. soil.
The Opportunity
The employee will analyze, evaluate, test, and certify Cisco products and services to meet US Government requirements. They will be required to lead all aspects of certification efforts from the requirement phase through certification. This includes translating Government security and interoperability technical requirements into product requirements, internally testing products against Interoperability and Cybersecurity requirements, identifying product gaps, reporting defects to engineering, and supporting the test team through certification at Government facilities. After testing, follow through on issues found is required.
Who You'll Work With
You will work with outstanding engineering professionals with technical expertise in various on-premise and cloud security domains. The team comprises of security architects, engineers, operators and program managers that help design, implement and operate on-premise and cloud solutions for U.S. Department of Defense customers. You will also frequently partner with business unit product architects and engineers to provide security and architecture mentorship to drive adoption of cloud security requirements.
What You'll Do
The position requires understanding of Cisco products functionality and how multiple technologies interact with one another. The ideal employee will have knowledge on-premise deployments, DoD security requirements (STIGS), and sophisticated communications systems. Additionally, they will have prior experience with evaluating, securing, and operating IP network-based elements and systems.
Beyond technical competence, the candidate must demonstrate communication and social skills as direct communication with team members, business units, program managers, sales teams, Government representatives, and other vendors is required. Candidate must work independently and as part of a team (including with remote members). The candidate will coordinate their own projects as well as providing test support for projects of other team members. This requires handling multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
Who You Are
Minimum Requirements:
- 3 years of experience in a security engineering or security operations role
- Experience with vulnerability scanning and related tools (Tenable, Qualys, Burp Suite, Aqua, etc).
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering. MS/MBA preferred.
- Experience working with governance, risk, and compliance systems and tooling.
- Must have advanced knowledge and experience with the following areas: System Hardening and Availability, Threat Identification and Mitigation, Intrusion Prevention and Content Security, Identity Management, ASA Firewall/VPN, IOS Firewall and Confidentiality, Secure Access (PKI, IKE, RSA, etc), and Zero Trust.
- Familiar with security hardening of routers, switches, servers, applications and other products in accordance with guidance and best practices
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience with ISE, Secure Network Analytics, ASA IDS/IPS, FTD, IOS XE VPN.
- Has excellent knowledge of DNA Center, SDWAN, EPNM.
- CCNP in Security, CCIE is highly desirable.
- Capable of building and documenting test networks, including the configuration of routers, switches, servers, applications, etc.
- Excellent risk mitigation and change management skills.
- Travel is required up to 15% of the time.
