What are the responsibilities and job description for the Drafting position at CITCO Water?
Position Summary
The Draftsperson’s primary responsibility is to prepare detailed and dimensioned CAD piping drawings from Engineer’s designs and schematic drawings.
Essential Functions

- Utilize catalogs and libraries of standard pipes, fittings, valves, pumps, etc. along with custom selected product dimensioned data sheets to prepare final, construction ready CAD drawings with itemized bill of materials.
- Complete required drawings that include outside, underground, yard piping and inside structure piping. Size may range from ½” plumbing piping to large 54” process piping
- Sales support functions and clerical tasks, such as preparation of submittal documentation packages, copying, binding, and printing.
- Communicates with vendors and customers on project requirements, dimensional issues, product availability, etc.
- When the need arises, a project estimator may need to help fill inside sales responsibilities which include:
- Uses general knowledge of CITCO core products to service our customers. Knowledge bases includes:
- Enters orders and order statuses by using basic knowledge of CITCO core products.
- Collects and enters proper PO, ship to address, customer contact name and phone number, and any special delivery instructions.
- Communicates sales leads to outside sales staff, as well as commits any leads to CITCO CRM software
- Researches and updates customer contact information, sales history, customer product pricing, vendor product pricing, and share market pricing knowledge with coworkers.
- General pipe, valves, and fittings knowledge, e.g. Pipe types and O.D., Waterworks Brass, pipe fittings, fire hydrants, basic valves
- General service offerings and ability to interpret and quote from standardized price lists, e.g. Wet Taps, Valve Inserts, Line Stops, Meter Testing, meter calibrations
- General knowledge of residential meter setting materials, including basic meters and PRVs, e.g. Saddles, Corps, Setters, Meter Boxes, Covers, SRII, Accustream, iPerl.
Required Education and Experience
- Technical or vocational education in Computer Aided Design (CAD)
- Basic knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office programs. Basic understanding of how to use office equipment, e.g. Print, copy, fax, scan
- General knowledge of CITCO core products as listed in essential functions
Preferred Education and Experience
- Industry related internship or experience with municipal water and wastewater processing piping
