As the GIS Manager in Technology Services, you will be responsible for leading our talented GIS Team comprised of GIS administrators and analysts dedicated to enabling city agencies to deliver exceptional services by empowering them with the ability to make data-driven decisions. The GIS Team is responsible for the City and County of Denver’s Spatial Database Engine (SDE) and continuously improves upon the data and tools available for citywide GIS users. Specifically, as the GIS Manager, you will: Actively manage a team of four GIS professionals to achieve strategic priorities and performance goals. Collaborate with key stakeholders to standardize, promote, and evangelize the responsible and ethical use of data needed to improve city performance. Manage the enterprise agreement with Esri and optimize the utilization of the associated suite of tools, including ArcGIS. Assist in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of the organization’s GIS. Drive the modernization of our GIS footprint to reduce technical debt. Leverage our data to support performance initiatives within Technology Services and across city agencies. Coordinate, plan, and manage the activities and resource allocation of the GIS Team. Advance an enterprise-wide information model and data services catalog that optimizes logical data access, data quality, and data utilization. Present operational updates, issues, and proposals to directors and executive leadership on a regular basis. Help govern and support a culture that manages data as an enterprise asset. Cultivate, foster, and maintain positive working relationships with GIS user and peer groups. Oversee the development of curriculum to improve citywide data literacy. Promote a culture of continuous improvement on the team. About You We are looking for someone with some or all the following skills and experience: Academic: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, IT Administration, or other related fields. Experience: At least 3-5 years of management experience leading technical or operational teams. Leadership: Proven track record of leading complex, multidisciplinary teams in challenging endeavors. Communication: Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to engage audiences and motivate a team. Technical Skills: Extensive experience with Esri and its associated products. Exposure to data warehouse technologies. Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of professional level information technology work.
