MS provides marketing and video production resources to city agencies and departments and administration of the city's cable franchise and public education access agreements. Denver Community Media (DCM) is looking for a video technical director, editor, and storyteller who is passionate about teaching. This person will instruct the Denver community on how to use commercial-grade quality video and podcast tools and systems. The Director/Editor will also perform professional-level work promoting DCM's initiatives. This work consists of video editing, setting up the studio and locations for video production, operating and maintaining television equipment, planning, producing, and coordinating studio, remote, field, live, and recorded video and podcast productions and teaching members how to do the same. Our members have invested their time, resources, and trust in us. Our DCM team provides hands-on instruction to members to ensure they are successful, happy, and believe they are a part of a valuable community of content creators on an educational journey. What you'll do: Responsible for preparing training curriculums and syllabi and educating members at all levels and able to instruct in a variety of digital media disciplines Deliver personalized instruction to each member by encouraging interactive learning Plan and implement training activities, media production, and podcast events Create learning experiences in different formats, using/working within the constraints of different templates and tools. Collaborate with the DCM team, partners, and members and execute the agreed-upon concept, format, and content of assigned projects and programs. Discuss technical details and implementation of productions. Design graphics, motion, and animation while ensuring that the visual schemes effectively represent the desired outcome and that the content meet established quality and production standards. Analyze and design technical plans for studio, remote, field, live, and recorded productions; organize and schedule the required equipment. Direct the work of members operating cameras, lighting, and sound during studio, remote, live, and recorded productions; when applicable, review work and provide feedback. Responsible for several administrative activities to support registration, fee transactions, informational reports and metrics, and presentations for leadership and partners. About You We are looking for someone with some or all the following skills and experience: Knowledge of instructional practices and demonstrated ability to design effective learning content. Able to communicate abstract or technical information to both technical & non-technical audiences. Ability to identify the best learning delivery formats for a specific set of learning goals. Experience with graphic and video editing design aesthetics and visual detail Creating and editing content for distribution onto DCM's social media and video streaming platforms Able to scope and manage the day-to-day work of projects independently. Good writing skills. Understand or willingness to learn how to program DCM’s cablecast channels 2 years of work experience in instruction of students Three (3) years of television or video production and video editing experience Must be proficient in Adobe Premiere and After Effects/Motion Graphics Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods Proficient with television production practices sufficient to be able to plan, coordinate, and train on equipment, supplies, participants, and develop written materials Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Teams We realize your time is valuable so please do not apply if you do not have at least the following required minimum qualifications: Education Requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications, Digital Filmmaking & Video Production, Visual Effects & Motion Graphics, or a related field. Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of professional experience directing, shooting, and editing television documentary, magazine, or news shows. Education & Experience Requirement: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements Licensure & Certification: Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
