What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Program Instructor position at City Gate?

City Gate will be running summer camps at four different program sites this summer. Basic responsibilities will be the same at each site. Please read through the job description below. We will go over specifics of the sites you're interested in during the interview.

Summer Program Instructor Responsibilities:
- Work with a team of other instructors to deliver a meaningful, impactful, and fun summer for youth ages 5-13
- Design and lead engaging, interest-based activities that build on your own skills and interests
- Supervise youth during weekly full-day off-site field trips and daily off-site afternoon activities
- Arrive on time for all shifts and maintain a professional, clean appearance

Summer Program Instructor Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years experience working with elementary or middle school youth
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to adapt to the changing needs of students and go with the flow

Preference will be given to applicants with:
- Current CPR/AED/FA certification
- Active DCPS clearance
This position reports to the Site Coordinator.
This position pays $16.50/hour. Program hours vary somewhat depending on the site but in general programs run from 9am to 4pm. Program Instructor positions will vary from 30-40 hours per week. Depending on the site, the position will be 6-7 weeks long.

The four sites are as follows:
- Mary Virginia Merrick Center (4275 4th St SE): This site will be serving approximately 50 youth ages 5-11 and the camp will run from Monday, June 27th-Friday, July 29th
- Atlantic Terrace Apartments (4319 3rd St SE): This site will be serving approximately 15 youth ages 5-11 and the camp will run from Tuesday, July 5th-Friday, August 5th
- Wisconsin Avenue Baptist Church (3920 Alton Pl NW): This site will be serving approximately 20 youth ages 11-13 and the camp will run from Tuesday, July 5th- Friday, August 12th
- Overland Gardens Apartments (3119 75th Ave, Hyattsville, MD): This site will serve approximately 20 youth and the camp will run from Tuesday, July 5th- Friday, August 5th

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Pay: $16.50 per hour
