Summary
City Market, Onion River Co-op is seeking an Assistant Grocery Manager, responsible for assisting the Grocery Manager with the overall Grocery department. This includes overseeing the stocking for all areas of grocery including Dry Goods, Bulk, Beer, Wine & Cider, Perishables and Frozen. The Assistant Grocery Manager is responsible for oversight of daily operations, ensuring additional stocking, merchandising, and cleaning is maintained during non-operational hours. Responsibilities also include hiring, coaching, development, performance evaluation, and corrective action for department employees, in accordance with Co-op policies, and sound business practices, and contributes to the growth, excellent customer service, employee development, quality control, profitability, and operating-cost reduction at City Market.

Day-to-Day Duties
- Assist Grocery Manager to meet or exceed sub-department net sales targets and adhere to department’s labor and expense targets.
- Assist Grocery Manager to ensure margin targets are maintained by performing essential functions and collaborating with Purchasing & Merchandising Team, and implement all department strategic plans and directives.
- Collaborate with Grocery Manager and People & Culture to hire, train, develop, supervise and evaluate the performance of all direct reports and to manage personnel issues, following proper discipline procedures, while providing accurate and timely documentation.
- Develop and maintain favorable relations with various departments including Receiving, Facilities, Safety and Security, Purchasing, the Front End; as well as staff, members, customers, and vendors.
- Ensure shelf tag compliance and that every item has a price, case/equipment maintenance, and OSHA compliance, while overseeing stocking priorities.
- Keep accurate stock loss records. Maintain acceptable inventory levels, utilizing all back storage areas effectively and efficiently.
- Work with Purchasing and Merchandising team, Retail Sales and Category Coordinator(s) to maintain promotional displays, endcaps, and adherence to store-wide promotional programs.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or equivalent two year degree or five years’ of related work experience.
- Minimum of 2 year retail or related experience.
- Minimum of 2 year management experience including but not limited to: hiring, training, evaluating, coaching and developing staff.
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of Office 365.
- Public speaking and presentation skills are preferred.

Salary : $49,700 - $63,000
