GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Job Description - Receptionist
Provide administrative support for an assigned department and coordinate activities associated with departmental programs and services. Perform administrative and secretarial work for the department. Monitor the City's phone activity by answering incoming phone calls and transferring calls to appropriate departments. Receive and respond to department-specific phone calls and visitors for the department and assist customers by answering questions, providing information or directing to
appropriate staff members within the department. Provide direction to guests by showing visitors where individuals are located and guiding visitors to their destination if assistance is required. Compile, gather, and enter data and documentation into computer for the department. Receive, sort and distribute incoming mail and process outgoing mail, and maintain files and records.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school or GED, plus specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area; e.g. data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, etc., plus 2 years related
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
High School Diploma or GED.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
