Minimum Qualifications
Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
  • Associate’s degree, plus two (2) years of public event or other related experience in a convention center, public assembly/event facility or other related facility/industry.
  • Completion of thirty (30) semester college hours may substitute for one (1) year of the required education with a maximum substitution of two (2) years.
  • Experience may substitute for the education up to the maximum of two (2) years
Licenses or Certifications:
  • Appropriate level of driver’s license as specified for the individual’s job.

This position is considered “Essential,” which requires reporting to work during emergency and/or bad weather closures.

Driving Requirement:
This position requires a Texas Class C Drivers License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) requisite. To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.
90 Day Provision for Additional Vacancy:
This posting may be used to fill other vacancies in other sections within the Division. Decisions on assigned section will be made at the time of hire based on business needs.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience with Access Control Systems, Video Surveillance and Report Management systems.
  • Experience working in public/private assembly facilities and /or assisting in managing events involving large crowds, communicating to internal and external clients in a Public Facility environment.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office 2016 products, including but not limited to operational use of Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Experience in providing leadership to a work group, including daily operations, personnel assignments/ scheduling, guidance and direction.
  • Texas Class C Drivers License.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  • Coordinates and assists clients with move-in and move-out activities.
  • Communicates and works with Event Coordinator regarding status of event, event changes, special client/event needs, etc.
  • Briefs and provides information and instructions to facility services staff to meet client/visitor needs.
  • Answers visitor/client questions and provide assistance.
  • Observes and enforces department/facility safety and operational policies and procedures.
  • Performs security and safety services. Monitors security and fire systems.
  • Coordinates emergency response including evacuation process.
  • Inspects and maintains equipment/vehicles for needed repairs and maintenance.
  • Acts as point of contact in the absence of Event Coordinator.

  • May provide leadership, work assignments, evaluation, training, and guidance to others.

  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in resource allocation, strategic planning, human resources and coordination of people and resources.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State and Local laws.

  • Knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
