The City of Austin’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) plans and prepares for emergencies, educates the public about preparedness, manages grant funding to improve homeland security and public safety capabilities, coordinates emergency response and recovery, supports planned events, and works with public and partner organizations to protect our whole community when it needs us the most.
This Coordinator position will play an important role in ensuring we are able to provide surge support in rapidly changing situations. This role will work closely with City departments to reassign City staff to temporary emergency roles, as well as with staffing agencies and volunteer organizations. This role is both people and systems oriented, and is directly responsible for procuring staffing for critical roles as they arise.
Ideal candidates for this position must be super organized and enjoy collaborating across multiple teams, assessing staffing needs, matching skill sets with needs, & building plans.

Pay Range
$20.71 – $26.41

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities

- Develop and implement a variety of programs, projects and activities.
- Coordinate with existing organizations to address operational/programming needs.
- Conduct needs assessments and meets with leaders, stakeholders and other groups to identify needs and available resources.

- Research funding sources, develop short and long range plans, and compile informational reports.
- Serve as City representative before community groups, businesses and/or the media.
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers.

- Ensures compliance with city and other regulatory agency requirements and policies
