The City of Bastrop is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Community Impact Manager.
Under the general supervision of the Assistant City Manager of Community Engagement, the position performs administrative duties for the Assistant City Manager and supporting departments. The Community Impact Manager is an energetic team member who is passionate about advocacy, works well with internal and external clients, and possesses exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills to ensure the successful management of relationships. The position will provide program support and assistance in relation to the City’s Communications & Special Events Team, Main Street Program, Special Events, Community Support Groups, Community Partners, and Community Assets.
Primary Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Assists the City of Bastrop with the planning, coordination and execution of various civic minded special events, projects and City programing associated with the Communications & Special Events Team including but not limited to:
- Purchases, organizes, and eventual storage of City supplies including general asset management and inventory
- Special event or program planning, delegation, execution, and cleanup as assigned
- Regularly reviews the Return on Investment (ROI) for City hosted events and programing to ensure they are following the City’s mission relative to the hard and soft costs associated to the event
- Coordinates the scheduling, bookings, and event execution of the City park assets
- Oversees and executes the permitting process for all Special Events and those wanting to film in the City of Bastrop.
- Processes and coordinates all City of Bastrop Special Event Applications Film Permits, meetings, staffing, assets, and resources
- Continually works on improving the Special Event and Film Permitting processes and procedures to ensure our clients are receiving excellent customer service during the permitting process and event execution
- Works to ensure the effective and efficient management of City resources for Special Events and Films
- Manage and grow community relationships with the City of Bastrop’s Community Partners, Community Assets, Community Support Groups, Main Street District, and other community networks.
- Updates and maintains a Main Street District business directory and City Partners, Community Assets, and Community Support Groups contact database
- Develops and implements City policies, procedures, and protocol designed to oversee relationships, agreements, and required reporting with City Partners, Support Groups, and Assets
- Facilitates dialogue and consensus building to identify and resolve issues between the City and various community stakeholders
- Establishes and maintains effective relationships with community leaders, City Officials, the media, and the public
- Helps manage community relationships with the above-mentioned groups through active and ongoing communication
- Organizes forums, walking tours, conferences and other community events and meetings with City staff as necessary for special events
- Conducts various customer service duties including but not limited to:
- Provides excellent customer service to our citizens, Community Assets, Community Partners, and Community Support Groups that may have an issue arise
- Assists with the duties and responsibilities of assigned City Boards & Commissions
- Develops and coordinates reports, and presentations as assigned by the Assistant City Manager
- Orders supplies and materials in accordance with the City’s Purchasing Policy
- Assists in the general oversight of calendars, mailings, scheduling appointments and answering phones
Minimum Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to function with considerable independence and to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Must possess a valid Texas driver license with an acceptable driving record
- Be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Knowledgeable of operational characteristics, services, and activities of the City of Bastrop
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
- Intermediate knowledge of Word and Excel
- Project Coordination experience
- Event Planning experience
- Requires making decisions on a daily basis regarding program decisions, problems related to downtown businesses, and general revitalization efforts
- Must have the ability to prioritize, use analytical thinking to set and meet goals, and to problem solve.
- Assists in the development of and manages assigned budget, program goals/responsibilities.
- Adheres to the City of Bastrop’s objectives and guidelines and assists with the creation of the annual work plan.

Physical Conditions
- Physical requirements include lifting and carrying of moderate weight (12-20 pounds). Subject to vision constantly; handling, and fine dexterity frequently; standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, bending, climbing, balancing, vision, hearing and talking occasionally; kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting and foot controls rarely.
- Working conditions involves working independently and interacting with diverse staff members and the public.
