Position Overview
Salary Range: $17.7263 - $22.6180, salary reflects Step 2 and Step 7 of a 7-step pay scale. Salary at hiring will be dependent upon the applicant's education, experience, and training.
Work Schedule:Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.Job Summary:
Ability to perform a wide variety of clerical duties in support of the Court while in session. In addition, must perform customer service in a fast-paced environment; receive, compile, prepare, organize, and maintain court documents and financial records; data entry; general bookkeeping; file maintenance and collection financial reporting. Must have leadership skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and provide direction to peers.
Scope of Responsibility:
Incumbent performs the full range of duties as assigned, works independently and exercises judgment and initiative. Incumbent receives only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and is fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. Incumbent also regularly interacts with other members of the department and with the public and has the ability to engender trust by showing sensitivity to diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepares minutes for individual cases proceedings; serves judgment and scheduling orders to litigants; provides clerical assistance to presiding judge; monitors court recording equipment; organizes and maintains court related manuals, forms, and files.
Financial
- Compiles, prepares, check, and tabulates statistical and financial data; inputs and retrieves a variety of fiscal and statistical information; processes purchase orders; serves as cashier; receives cash by mail and in person; prepares deposits.
- Participates in the collection of delinquent accounts; prepares delinquent account notices and letters; submits uncollectible accounts to collection agency; coordinates collection efforts and tracks results.
Departmental Duties
- Enters and activates arrest warrants from the City Attorney’s office.
- Emails preliminary hearing lists to attorneys.
- Assists with court record retention schedule.
- Backs-up Account Clerk II, Legal Assistant, and Bailiff positions when needed.
- Routinely uses a full range of spreadsheet computer software applications.
- Performs a variety of general clerical duties, including typing, maintaining files and records.
- Inputs and scans criminal and civil tickets.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or GED
- Two (2) years clerical training beyond high school
- Must have the ability to operate personal computers and advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, or equivalent
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and a Federal and State criminal background check
