Receives, investigates, and responds to water quality complaints and concerns, providing technical and customer service assistance as needed. Notifies the Assistant Director of Environmental Programs and the Director of issues, when warranted. Leads quarterly meetings for consecutive water systems (wholesale water companies). Develops and delivers training on drinking water distribution compliance. Researches system conditions and makes recommendations to prevent compliance concerns and improve water quality conditions. Oversees the flushing program and program staff, ensuring the program is in compliance with regulations and internal standards. Oversees the Lead and Copper Rule Program, service line inventory and replacement, ensuring that it is in compliance with state, federal and local regulations. Maintains knowledge of new, revised, or potential regulations and notifies and advises management, as necessary. Serves on the following community committees and possibly others: Lake Monroe Watershed Coalition, Friends of Lake Monroe, and Lake Lemon Water Conservancy. Creates and distributes the department’s annual water quality report.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Science degree in environmental or physical sciences, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Three years of overall experience and/or combination of experience and education that includes water quality operations, management and/or permit compliance.
TRAINING/SKILLS
Thorough knowledge of drinking water regulations and drinking water treatment facility operations.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Valid Indiana Driver's License. CDL license preferred. Must pass the Distribution System License (DSL) exam within 1 year of employment. Must pass the Water Treatment 5 (WT5) exam within 2 years of employment. Ability to respond to water quality emergencies on a 24-hour basis and attend evening and weekend meetings as needed.
Additional Information
Salary: $45,169.45 - $63,418.50
Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday; and other times as necessary.
