What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreation Leader position at City of Calabasas?
Essential Job Duties:
The following tasks are essential for this position. Incumbents in this classification may not perform all of these tasks, or may perform similar related tasks not listed here.
• Opens, secures, and cleans/sanitizes program areas before and after program use; prepares program areas for scheduled recreational activities and events, sets-up activity equipment, audio/visual needs, tables, and more.
• Inspect and maintain program areas and equipment and recommends maintenance and repair as needed.• Organizes and conducts recreation programs and activities.
• Performs routine administrative duties such as counter reception, registration processing, organizing records, following up with program participants and staff; assists with the compilation of data for reporting purposes.
• Answers the telephone and routes call to appropriate personnel; responds to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provides information within the area of assignment.
• Sets-up tables, equipment, etc., for facility rentals.• Assist with event element coordination; sets up and tears down event equipment and supplies.
• Supervise facility rentals, gym rentals, and facilities as required.
• Conducts scorekeeping for youth and adult basketball.• Maintains inventory of supplies and materials for programs and events.
• Adheres to City and departmental policies and procedures.
• Assists with City’s special events and programs as needed.
• Assists in the implementation and monitoring of City procedures with respect to participant safety.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Knowledge, Skill and Ability:
Knowledge of:
• Basic rules and regulations governing recreational activities and events• Objectives and practices common to events and activities
Skill and Ability to:
• Organize and direct individuals and groups• Conduct and participate in recreational and social activities• Adhere to program standards and objectives• Maintain records and simple reports• Meet with the public in situations requiring tact and diplomacy• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing• Equipment set up and tear down• Understand and follow verbal and written directions• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
Training and Experience:
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would include 3 months of volunteer or work experience.
