What are the responsibilities and job description for the Court Specialist position at City of Charleston?
We are looking for a Court Specialist to join the City of Charleston's Municipal Court! In this role, you will perform clerical and administrative duties supporting the Municipal Court’s operations division.
- Researches and responds to disposition requests from other jurisdictions, government agencies, attorneys, and citizens and maintains files relating to requests.
- Coordinates with the Police Department and Legal Department on records check requests.
- Performs general office tasks that include providing in person customer service to attorneys and members of the public and answering telephones.
- Reads, stamps, and routes incoming mail and collects and distributes incoming fax transmissions.
- Ensures outgoing external mail is stamped and that postage machine is operating efficiently at all times.
- Assists docket clerks and bailiffs as needed, including assisting in researching and processing motions to reopen cases and making copies of correspondence or other materials.
- Attends staff meetings, prepares reports upon request.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
High school (or GED) and three (3) years of clerical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Paraprofessional experience in courtroom setting or law office preferred.
Salary : $41,371 - $41,891
