What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Intern - Housing and Community Development position at City of Charleston?
The City of Charleston is looking for an Intern to join the Department of Housing and Community Development! In this role, you will assist with the coordination of housing programs and help to develop block, street and neighborhood revitalization plans and strategies.
*Applicant must be a current college student.*
- Assembles and analyzes information on the housing and community development needs of the City.
- Assists in strategic planning, data gathering, studies, analysis, and plan preparation for HUD programs.
- Prepares applications, surveys, and reports, including information regarding grant funding expenditures.
- Prepares publications related to marketing programs and other initiatives.
- Assists with scheduling initial meetings and maintenance plans with homeowners.
- Researches and creates a list of properties located in the target area for rehabilitation.
- Reviews and updates the Department of Housing and Community Development's Disaster Plan.
- Prepares reports and profiles to indicate grant funding distribution.
- Provides support/assistance to the manager of the Homeownership Program and the P.A.S.T.O.R.S. organization.
- Applicant must be a current college student pursuing a graduate or undergraduate degree in public administration, business administration, urban studies or a related field.
