What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facility Attendant - Arena position at City of Chaska?
The Facility Attendant is responsible for ice resurfaces, light maintenance, custodial duties, event set up and take down and basic point of sale. This position effectively handles a variety of customer service situations and is responsible for fostering superior customer service and employee relations. This position is responsible for ensuring a fun and safe environment for employees and patrons.
*The City is seeking both seasonal and year-round employees for this position.*- Assists with the maintenance of the ice arena. With training can include operating the ice resurfacing machines.
- Responsible for the general custodial duties as well as assisting with facility maintenance tasks and projects.
- Operates the skate rental shop, rents skates, cleans, sharpens and keeps skates organized.
- Responsible for arena ice maintenance, performance of custodial duties and skate shop operation.
- Responsible for keeping all areas of the facility neat, clean and safe at all times. This includes sweeping vacuuming, mopping and general cleaning.
- Perform set ups and take downs for room reservations and special events.
- Perform closing and opening duties as needed.
- Help enforce Community Center Policies and procedures.
- Perform light maintenance including, but not limited to: room set-up and take-down; general cleaning of the building, including windows, empty garbage cans, floors, spills, tables, chairs, and vacuum carpeted areas; clean surfaces in rest rooms and locker rooms; clean the ice arena equipment and surrounding area; restock paper products; pick up outside litter; and snow removal when needed.
- Performs all other related duties as requested or assigned.
Education and Experience
- Age, 18 years or older
- Valid Driver license, preferred
- 1 year of related experience
- Previous experience operating heavy machinery, preferred
- Ability to work a variety of hours, including days, evenings, weekend and holidays
- American Red Cross CPR/AED/ First Aid Certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
- Previous work in a team setting preferred

- Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment
- Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe and efficient use, storage and disposal
- Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures and maintenance schedules
- Ability to operate custodial equipment
